I think this song is not from the widows perspective but rather her partner's, her partner is telling the story inside his grave (grieving for the living=his wife.. ) about how his body covered with sand and plants like ivy and it feels like cheating to him because his body is covered with sand and ivy is growing in the bones of his body away from his wife.... Just a theory I like actually thinking of it this way.
